The charity’s first 13.1 mile half marathon in Harwich last year saw 670 runners generously raising more than £75,000 to help people across north east Essex in need of hospice care or bereavement support.
Runners will receive an exclusive race medal showcasing the historic lighthouses, and both races are official UK athletics affiliated chip timed.
Variable road closures will be in place from 9am – 2pm on race day to keep the runners, spectators, volunteers and residents safe. Roads will re-open when it is safe and the final runners have passed the route for the last time. Roads affected are:
Lower Marine Parade, Marine Parade, Low Road, Wick Lane, Gravel Hill Way, Lower end of Abbott Road, Barrack Lane, Harbour Crescent, Main Road leading to West Street, West Street, The Quay, Kings Quay Street, Outpart Eastward, Angelgate.
The promenade will be in use from Harwich Sailing Club to the finish at West End Lane. All roads accessing or leading to the closed roads will be met by road closures and no access is available. Prior advanced warning notices will be displayed in the weeks leading up to race day.

“Our charity half marathon and 10k set to be another brilliant event and raise tens of thousands of pounds to support people at their most vulnerable time of life, with already more than 600 runners registered to race in October.
“Most of the work of the Hospice takes place in people’s homes right across north east Essex through our community nurse specialists, SinglePoint 24/7 adviceline and rapid response nurses, doctors and rehabilitation experts, which means people can stay where they love surrounded by the people they love, their treasured possessions and their memories.
“We understand it is frustrating for some local residents when their roads are closed for the short time that the races are on, and we very much appreciate their support so we can put on the event to raise vital funds to support local people living with life-limiting conditions, facing the end of life or experiencing bereavement.
